Employing an apprentice can have benefits for the employer as well as the apprentice, and help you to develop a skilled workforce with relevant experience to your organisation and sector.

Apprentices often bring new and creative ideas to an organisation and can be more inclined to stay in employment should opportunities arise at the end of their apprenticeship, helping you to retain skilled workers.

Through the Worcestershire Construction Apprentice Academy, you could receive a financial grant which can be used towards paying your apprentice's salary, with your apprentice receiving trade vouchers to help purchase tools and equipment for personal use.

To apply for funding from the Worcestershire Construction Apprentice Academy (WCAA), you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be considered a micro-business (employing 10 or less staff);

  • Be located within Worcestershire;

  • Employing an apprentice training at the Heart of Worcestershire College;

  • Employing an apprentice within carpentry or bricklaying occupations;

  • Submit an application and statement with your apprentice through the heart of worcestershire college.

Please note, as an employer you are only entitled to one apprentice grant through the WCAA at any one time.

Your application will not automatically qualify you for funding.
